  • Rod shaped acid fast bacilli present in the cytoplasm of histiocytes
  • Acid fast stain highlights them as red rod shaped small structures

May Resemble:
  • Histoplasma in histiocytes [Compare]
  • Leishmania in Histiocytes [Compare]
  • Cellular debris in Histiocytes

Leishmaniasis
Histoplasmosis
Cellular debris within histiocytes
Bacterial infection
